HELENA, Mont. – Based on the Phillips County Sheriff’s Workplace, two non-citizens had been arrested and pled responsible to costs involving election crimes in the course of the November 2021 municipal election. The Dodson mayoral race in Phillips County was determined by solely two votes.
The Secretary of State’s Workplace referred the matter to the Montana Legal professional Normal’s Workplace to supervise prosecution.
Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen, who ran her marketing campaign for Montana Secretary of State with an emphasis on the integrity of elections, applauded legislation enforcement.
“Thanks to the Legal professional Normal and all legislation enforcement concerned for a job effectively achieved. This workplace is repeatedly reminded that voting violations don’t exist as a result of voting crimes will not be prosecuted,” stated Secretary Jacobsen. “As such, I’ll work to make sure that election legislation violations comparable to this are lastly taken critically and can proceed to work to stop them from occurring within the first place.”
