Governor Ivey Allocates Funds to Help Home Violence Victims

MONTGOMERY — Governor Kay Ivey on Thursday introduced that 18 nonprofit businesses can be allotted funds from the state’s Home Violence Belief Fund to help victims of home violence.

The belief fund was created by the Alabama Legislature in 2015 to assist the businesses present shelter and different providers to home violence victims and their households. The funds are derived from a charge on marriage licenses.

“It is a invoice I supported as lieutenant governor and one I proceed to help at this time,” stated Governor Ivey. “The belief fund monies present further assets to those businesses to supply protected shelter for victims who’re fleeing from violent or doubtlessly violent conditions and to assist these victims rebuild their lives.”

The Alabama Workplace of Prosecution Providers, which makes a prosecutor accessible and gives technical providers in home violence circumstances, was granted $80,000 to help its providers and the Alabama Coalition In opposition to Home Violence, which is made up of home violence businesses, was awarded $114,723.

All different 16 businesses can be allotted funds on a quarterly foundation.

Appropriations to every company are decided by a number of components together with inhabitants of their service space and the variety of home violence occurrences inside these service areas. In 2021, a complete of $1.7 million was distributed to the businesses.

This system is run by the Alabama Division of Financial and Group Affairs.

“Gov. Ivey realizes and appreciates the function these businesses play in serving to people and households in dire circumstances,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell stated. “ADECA is happy to affix with the governor and these businesses in offering protected haven for these victims and giving them hope for the long run.”

Home violence businesses which can be receiving funds and their service areas are:

Safeplace Inc. (Florence) – Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Marion and Winston counties.

Disaster Providers of North Alabama Inc. (Huntsville) – Jackson, Limestone, Madison and Morgan counties.

Home Violence Disaster Providers (Albertville) – Cherokee, DeKalb and Marshall counties.

Sufferer Providers of Cullman Inc. (Cullman) – Cullman County.

Household Useful resource Middle of Northwest Alabama Inc. (Jasper)– Walker County.

2nd Probability (Anniston) – Calhoun, Cleburne, Etowah and Talladega counties.

YWCA Central Alabama (Birmingham) – Blount, Jefferson and St. Clair counties.

SafeHouse of Shelby County (Pelham) – Chilton, Clay and Shelby counties.

SAN Inc. – Turning Level (Tuscaloosa) – Bibb, Fayette, Hale, Lamar, Pickens and Tuscaloosa counties.

SABRA Sanctuary Inc. (Selma) – Dallas, Greene, Marengo, Perry, Sumter and Wilcox counties.

Home Violence Intervention Middle (Opelika) – Chambers, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Russell and Tallapoosa counties.

Montgomery Space Household Violence Program – The Sunshine Middle (Montgomery) – Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties.

Penelope Home (Cell) – Choctaw, Clarke, Cell and Washington counties.

Baldwin Household Violence Shelter – The Lighthouse (Robertsdale) – Baldwin, Conecuh, Escambia, and Monroe counties.

The Home of Ruth (Dothan) – Barbour, Bullock, Espresso, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston and Pike counties.

AshaKiran (Huntsville) – Providers are supplied statewide to culturally numerous communities and people who are international born and have restricted English talking expertise.

ADECA administers an array of packages supporting legislation enforcement and visitors security, financial growth, power conservation, water useful resource administration and recreation growth.
