Ms Iris Luarasi, President of the Council of Europe Group of Specialists on Motion towards Violence towards Ladies and Home Violence (GREVIO), is taking on the Presidency of the Platform of Impartial Skilled Mechanisms on the Elimination of Discrimination and Violence towards Ladies (EDVAW Platform). It will likely be the primary regional mechanism to chair the Platform, following its institution in 2018 and which has till now been chaired by the UN Particular Rapporteur on violence towards girls, its causes and penalties.
As agreed by the Platform, her one-year mandate (from 1 February 2022 to 30 January 2023) will deal with the digital dimension of violence towards girls on the world stage, knowledgeable by GREVIO’s General Recommendation on this situation. The EDVAW Platform can even proceed to garner public and political assist for stopping and combating violence towards girls and home violence on the idea of current worldwide and regional authorized devices, notably the Istanbul Conference.
