Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Safety introduced that their agriculture specialists seized prohibited meat merchandise on the U.S.-Mexico border. Customs brokers seized 243 kilos of prohibited pork bologna in two separate and unrelated incidents. Officers seized 55 kilos of pork merchandise on January 13 and one other 188 kilos of bologna on January 21.
“Pork merchandise have the potential to introduce international animal illnesses that may have devastating results on the U.S. economic system and agricultural business,” says Director of Area Operations Hector Mancha.
The El-Paso Herald-Put up says each the USDA and Division of Homeland Safety are working to guard American agriculture in opposition to the introduction of pests and illnesses at our nation’s ports of entry.
Officers add that undeclared, prohibited agriculture objects will get confiscated and can lead to a big civil penalty for failure to declare on the border. The bologna was seized and destroyed by CBP brokers per USDA laws.
