Chatham County sheriff introduced award from U.S. Coast Guard


SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A shock award for Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher.

The commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and Division of Homeland Safety introduced the Meritorious Public Service Award to him on Thursday.

The award comes after the sheriff’s workplace allowed particular brokers to make use of their coaching facility through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sheriff Wilcher says he thought that he was going to observe the coast guard decommission a ship at present. As a substitute, he was honored with an award.
