LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – October is Home Violence Consciousness Month, and on Oct. 1 the Marie Detty New Instructions Shelter headed out to tie purple ribbons alongside Gore.
The purple ribbons are an emblem of braveness and hope for victims of home violence.
The volunteers walked the size of Gore this morning from eleventh to 2nd avenue tying the ribbons.
“We’re kicking of October, which is Home Violence Consciousness month,” Program Director at Marie Detty New Instructions Shelter Latricia Kippers mentioned. “So, we’re right here to tie ribbons from eleventh and Gore to Second and Gore. We even have Fort Sill home violence program right here, serving to us. And so we work as a collaborative effort to assist survivors of home violence.”
The shelter has quite a few occasions deliberate for the month, together with a Stroll and Trunk-or-Deal with occasion.
