The Authorities has proposed new legal guidelines that will create an offence of stalking, carrying a most 10-year jail time period.
The Seanad is to debate proposals making stalking a standalone offence distinct from present harassment regulation.
Fianna Fáil Senator Lisa Chambers has moved a invoice which might introduce the offence.
