Balasore: A neighborhood courtroom in Balasore district in the present day allowed the State Crime Department to take 5 DRDO workers arrested from the Built-in Check Vary (ITR), Chandipur, on remand for every week in reference to an espionage case.
The Crime Department had prayed earlier than the SDJM Court docket, Balasore, searching for permission for seven-day remand for interrogation.
With grant of permission for remand, a particular group of Crime Department comprising of officers in SP, Cyber Inspector and Sub-Inspector ranks will convey the accused individuals to Cuttack from Balasore district for grilling.
“The Crime Department will examine into espionage case from all angles. The arrested accused individuals will likely be questioned to establish whether or not some other individual was concerned within the case. If required, we are going to take help of the Nationwide Investigation Company (NIA). The central company can also interrogate the accused individuals within the case,” knowledgeable Crime Department ADG (Further Director Common) Sanjeeb Panda.
To date, 5 workers of the Defence Analysis and Improvement Organisation (DRDO) have been arrested for allegedly leaking secrets and techniques to a Pakistani agent. The accused individuals have been — Basanta Behera (52), AC operator; Hemanta Kumar Mistri (52), diesel genset operator; Tapas Ranjan Nayak (41), worker at ITR important gate; Sk. Musafir (32), AC operator; and Sachin Kumar, a driver — all from Balasore district.
