Priti Patel has urged the police to take “decisive motion” in opposition to environmental protesters who introduced the M25 to a standstill twice this week.
She stated that their “guerrilla ways” have been “utterly unacceptable” and warned that they’d be handed punitive jail sentences beneath new legal guidelines going by parliament.
Activists from Insulate Britain, which campaigns for the federal government to fund residence insulation in social housing, vowed yesterday to carry a 3rd protest “as quickly as potential” after inflicting severe disruption on the M25. Police have been heavily criticised over their “soft-touch” response to the protesters.
The group stated that 89 of the 181 activists arrested this week had been launched from custody regardless of telling officers of plans for future protests. An extra 17 have been bailed.
