FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The general public is invited to debate how the state courtroom system handles instances of home violence, courting violence, stalking and sexual violence at 4 digital neighborhood boards this month.
The regional boards will happen Sept. 27-30 on Zoom. Contributors are required to register.
The boards are a part of an in-depth, statewide evaluation being carried out by the Administrative Office of the Courts, the operations arm of the Kentucky Judicial Department.
The evaluation is to determine gaps in the way in which the courtroom system addresses home violence points.
In 2020, greater than 12,000 prison instances involving home violence and associated prices have been filed in Kentucky courts.
“For those who or somebody has sought and/or obtained help via the courts for home violence, courting violence, stalking or sexual violence, we need to hear from you,” mentioned Vanessa Chauhan, the AOC’s home violence program coordinator. “These conditions are devastating to the people and their households and we need to do all the pieces we are able to to make sure our courtroom professionals are educated and outfitted to serve them.”
