KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A former Missouri Supreme Courtroom chief justice will be a part of the Jackson County prosecutor’s workforce working to free a person who prosecutors consider was wrongfully convicted of a triple homicide greater than 40 years in the past.
Edward “Chip” Robertson will work on the case with Prosecutors Jean Peters Baker, who introduced in Could that she doesn’t consider Kevin Strickland was concerned within the murders in Kansas Metropolis in 1978, The Kansas Metropolis Star reported.
Robertson was named to the Supreme Courtroom in June 1985 and served till his retirement in 1998. He was chief justice from 1991 to 1993.
Peters Baker used a brand new state regulation to file a motion asking a Circuit Judge to hear evidence that Strickland did not commit the murders and should be freed.
Missouri Lawyer Common Eric Schmitt’s workplace has argued that Strickland is guilty and may keep in jail.
A listening to is scheduled Monday to listen to arguments over motions the legal professional normal has filed within the case.
An evidentiary listening to that would result in Strickland’s launch has not but been scheduled.
