About 25 inmates and three workers within the Niagara County Jail have been identified with Covid-19 prior to now couple of weeks, Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti mentioned Friday.
The outbreak has led to quarantines of inmates, a halt to visitation and the resumption of some digital court docket classes for incarcerated suspects.
Filicetti mentioned one inmate has been within the hospital for the previous three days.

In its weekly Covid replace on Wednesday, Niagara County introduced it had 271 new Covid instances within the earlier seven days, together with eight hospitalizations and two deaths. The county’s positivity price on Wednesday was 4%, and its seven-day common positivity price was 3.7%.
Filicetti mentioned he would not understand how most of the individuals affected by the present outbreak have been unvaccinated.
