CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Women Recognizing Our Value basis (GROW) is internet hosting a home violence survivor and empowerment occasion this weekend in Chesapeake.
The occasion is named ‘Square Up: Surviving the Ring & Yourself.’ It’s a workshop to have fun individuals who survived abuse and hope to thrive in society.
Niesha Himes, the host, is an abuse survivor. Himes now advocates in opposition to abuse and created the non-profit GROW. The occasion will present lunch, private boxing coaching and visitor audio system/survivors of abuse.
The keynote speaker, Christy Martin, is an abuse survivor, world champion boxer and founding father of Christy’s Champs. One other speaker is Brian King, a childhood and domestic abuse survivor, veteran and health mannequin.
It’s set to occur August 21 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at MatchBout boxing fitness, 820 Greenbrier Circle, Suite 15 in Chesapeake. Admission is $25.
