SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Crew members aboard the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Benjamin Bottoms rescued 19 individuals who had been in a small boat throughout the weekend about 68 nautical miles west of Ensenada, Mexico.
The coastal neighborhood of Ensenada is about an hour’s drive south of the San Diego-Tijuana border.
The vessel was reportedly lifeless within the water and drifting whereas in worldwide waters, and never but in U.S. territory.
Mexico’s Navy mentioned it launched a search and rescue operation on the lookout for the small boat.
When the Coast Guard responded and situated the vessel and the 19 individuals on board, it then transported them to a Mexican ship that took them again to Ensenada to be evaluated.
As soon as on dry land medical personnel checked on the passengers whereas Mexican immigration brokers questioned the individuals rescued.
Whereas not calling them migrants, the 15 males and 4 girls had been described as individuals from “completely different origins.”
The boat, based on the Mexican Navy, had been reported as stolen.
